A Marketer’s Unique Approach To Fix Poor Critical Thinking & Communication Skills

Marketing is a disciplined approach to Problem Solving. It takes training and experience to do analysis to understand a market situation and identify key issues; creative thinking to develop a unique strategic solution to test and refine; then planning, communication, and executional skills to develop and launch a plan, all with a focus on achieving an objective.

I had discussion with Jim Rowe, an accomplished business leader and marketing strategist. Renowned for his expertise in branding, Jim has over 45+ years in marketing on both the client side (Brand Manager Coke/ VP Marketing in Wine & Spirits), agency side (President of 2 Divs. of Saatchi); and 30+ years as an agency owner (MME & Jim Rowe Marketing). He served as both an outsourced CMO for smaller firms and a vital marketing team member for larger corporations, helping correctly position and grow dozens of diverse companies.

Since COVID Jim leveraged his marketing expertise to address the top 2 issues facing all corporations – Poor Critical Thinking and Communication Skills among recent grads. Realizing students weren’t learning these skills in school, he authored an innovative 2-Book FABLE series after his last name - " Get Your Ducks In A Rowe” to teach simple approaches he used to train young execs to think and communicate. The books have been used as textbooks at Angelo State U. in Texas receiving both positive book reviews from professors in 3 Academic Journals, and overwhelming support from students in a survey about the books’ indicating they are a fun and effective way to learn and walk away with something tangible to use.

Jim explains how corporations being hurt from poor productivity caused by these weak skills, can be addressed simply, effectively, and inexpensively with his approach.
